Little Green Dots

(This is a first in my neo-tech inspired poetry series)

I fix my coffee first thing when I wake up

and login to my team chat and say 'sup'!?

I need to make sure my Green Dot is on

because otherwise my boss might frown.

But even he's a Green Dot,

Like everyone else in this spot.

What is a Green Dot, you ask?

Well it's someone who is green but not doing a task.

See, these days, we're all Green Dots.

I know that when i message you, you won't answer

And it's not because you're in the lab curing cancer.

You're probably swimming or shopping or chilling.

Or maybe you're out there hocking your own app, shilling.

Green Dots is what we all are now.

Since AI came and took our plows.

We don't have any pride left, and we're mired.

But also, we just don't want to get fired.

So we remain active, little Green Dots,

But if you message us, we won't be there to talk.

It can be annoying when I message you and you're away,

but I know I annoy you the same, in just the same way.
